What Is a LUT?
A LUT (Look-Up Table) is a set of mathematical transformations that maps input colors to output colors. Used in film and TV production to achieve consistent "looks" or to simulate film stock. In photography, LUTs are used for color grading — giving photos a specific mood or aesthetic.
Types of LUTs
- Technical LUTs: Convert between color spaces (e.g., LOG to Rec.709)
- Creative LUTs: Apply a look (cinematic, film noir, warm summer, etc.)
- Emulation LUTs: Simulate film stocks (Kodak Portra, Fujifilm Velvia)
How to Apply LUT Filters Online
- Open LUT Filters tool.
- Upload your photo.
- Browse available LUT presets and click to preview.
- Adjust the intensity (0-100%) to blend between original and graded look.
- Download the graded photo.
Best Photos for LUT Grading
LUTs work best on well-exposed photos with good base colors. Photos that are overexposed, underexposed, or have mixed white balance can produce unpredictable results. Start with a well-balanced image for the best grading outcome.
